Step-by-Step Replacement Process

1. Preparation & Safety

Park the excavator on a flat, stable surface.

Lower the bucket and blade to stabilize the machine.

Relieve track tension by loosening the grease valve on the track adjuster.

2. Remove the Track Chain

Use a hydraulic jack to lift one side of the excavator.

Remove track bolts & nuts connecting the track shoes (if replacing them).

Disconnect the track chain using a track press (for master pin removal).

Slide the old track chain off the sprocket, idler, and track rollers.

3. Replace Rollers & Idlers

Unbolt and remove worn carrier rollers (upper rollers) or track rollers (bottom rollers).

Remove the front idler by loosening its mounting bolts.

Install new rollers/idlers and secure them properly.

4. Replace the Sprocket (If Needed)

Remove the drive motor cover (if applicable).

Unbolt the sprocket from the final drive.

Install the new sprocket and tighten bolts to the manufacturer's torque specifications.

5. Install the New Track Chain

Align the new track chain with the sprocket, idler, and track rollers rollers.

Use a track press to connect the chain ends (insert the master pin).

Reattach track shoes (if separate) with bolts and nuts.

6. Adjust Track Tension

Use a grease gun to pump grease into the track adjuster until proper tension is achieved.

Check tension by measuring sag (usually 20-40mm between top roller and track).

7. Final Inspection

Lower the excavator and move it slowly to ensure smooth operation.
